                              Take Childbirth Education Classes

There's a wealth of information to help you maintain a healthy pregnancy, but the act of childbirth itself can seem a bit mysterious to many first-time moms-to-be — even if you've read up on all the details. That's where a childbirth education class comes in. Taking one gives you hands-on practice and knowledge about the entire birth process. In turn, knowing what to expect from that first contraction to that final push will go a long way toward reducing your anxiety and preparing you for the incredible journey you're about to go through

                                             Avoid hospital beds

Bed rest is commonly prescribed during pregnancy to alleviate certain pregnancy  complications. Some women know it is coming because of their medical history, whereas others are surprised during a routine checkup. Bed rest is common, so don’t be alarmed.
Bed rest will differ from woman to woman and may range from simple periodic resting at home to full bed rest with monitoring in a hospital.  Some women will discover that their health care provider places them on bed rest for a brief period to help a complication stabilize, while other women may be placed on bed rest throughout most of their pregnancy if they have what is called, a high-risk pregnancy

Choose a health provider who is into normal childbirth

Your choice of a maternity care provider and birth setting can affect the kind of care you receive, the choices and options you will have during labor and birth, and the amount of involvement you have in decisions regarding your care.
Taking time early in your pregnancy to learn about different kinds of maternity care providers and birth settings can help you have a safe and satisfying birth experience

                                         Keep a healthy diet

A pregnant woman needs more calcium, folic acid, iron and protein than a woman who is not expecting, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists(ACOG). Here is why these four nutrients are important.
Folic acid, also known as folate when found in foods, is a B vitamin that is crucial in helping to prevent birth defects in the baby's brain and spine, known as neural tube defects.
It may be hard to get the recommended amount of folic acid from diet alone. For that reason the March of Dimes, an organization dedicated to preventing birth defects, recommends that women who are trying to have a baby take a daily vitamin supplement containing 400 micrograms of folic acid per day for at least one month before becoming pregnant. During pregnancy, they advise women to increase the amount of folic acid to 600 micrograms a day, an amount commonly found in a daily prenatal vitamin.

                                          Exercise regularly

Maintaining a regular exercise routine throughout your pregnancy can help you stay healthy and feel your best. Regular exercise during pregnancy can improve your posture and decrease some common discomforts such as backaches and fatigue. There is evidence that physical activity may prevent gestational diabetes (diabetes that develops during pregnancy), relieve stress, and build more stamina needed for labor and delivery.

If you were physically active before your pregnancy, you should be able to continue your activity in moderation. Don't try to exercise at your former level; instead, do what's most comfortable for you now. Low impact aerobics are encouraged versus high impact
